All About Erectile Dysfunction DrugsPublieke groep active 1 maand geleden
Nowadays, the most effective Erectile Dysfunction treatments are oral drugs, called PDE5 inhibitors. There are three PDE-5 drugs on the market, approved for the treatment of erectile problems, namely Viagra (sildenafil citrate), Levitra (vardenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil). According to the clinical data, these drugs are at average effective in 88% male patients.
But in some cases, oral ED drugs might not be effective. Other ways of treating Erectile Dysfunction are injection drugs, such as Prostaglandin and Phentolamine, vacuum pumps, urethral suppositories, etc.
Cialis (tadalafil) is a prescription drug used for the treatment of Impotence (ED). Cialis was approved in 2003 by the US FDA. It is sold in form of yellow, almond-shaped, film-coated tablets. The doses are 10 mg or 20 mg.
CIALIS ED drug only works with sexual stimulation and operates by blocking PDE-5 enzymes in an organism, easing the blood flow to penis. Cialis is taken orally, as needed, either with or without meal, no more than once a day.
Sometimes Cialis is prescribed in a lower dose (2.5mg or 5mg) for taking regularly, on an everyday basis. This formulation of tadalafil is called Cialis for Daily Use.
Cialis starts working in 30-60 minutes after you take it, thus it should be taken at least 30 minutes prior to sexual activity in order to be effective. One special precaution when taking Cialis ED drug is consumption of grape juice or drugs containing nitrates. Do not drink grape juice or take nitrates in combination with Cialis (or any other PDE-5 inhibitor), as it can affect the amount of the ED drug in bloodstream and cause hypotension. Tadalafil effects last up to 36 hours.
Levitra vardenafil pde5 inhibitor Levitra (vardenafil hydrochloride) is another oral medication applied for the treatment of male Erectile Dysfunction. Levitra was approved in 2003.
Levitra ED drug works the same way as Cialis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection only after sexual stimulation. Levitra should be taken 30 minutes prior to sexual intercourse with or without a meal, no more than once a day.
The absorption of the drug is not decreased by fat in the meal, and it also can be taken along with alcohol. Levitra starts to act within 15-20 minutes after intake, and its effects last up to 5 hours.
During the clinical trials of the drug, Levitra demonstrated amazing results: 92% patients responded positively to the treatment. Therefore, Levitra is considered the most safe and tolerable drug available on the market.
Vardenafil hydrochloride, an active ingredient in Levitra, is also marketed under brand name Staxyn, in form of orally disintegrating tablets. Staxyn ED drug starts to act in already 5 minutes after intake.
VIAGRA (sildenafil citrate)
Viagra (sildenafil citrate) is the most well-known and widely-used treatment for ED problems. Like Cialis and Levitra, it is a PDE-5 inhibitor which works by blocking enzymes.
Viagra is taken 30 minutes to 2 hours before sexual activity (usually 1 hour), no more than once a day.
The market share of Viagra has recently decreased due to the information published by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), which disclosed that selective enzyme inhibitor ED drugs, like Viagra, can be a reason for vertigo (dizziness), tinnitus (ringing in your ears) and even temporary loss of hearing.
Temporary hearing problems and ringing in ears previously were considered common side effects for Viagra and as well as other PDE5 inhibitor drugs, but with this information becoming public, more people stopped using the medication.
